Fostering creativity and writing excellence

Earlier this week, Dr Pete Court had a chat with Maz on Life FM about the Christian Writers Conference in Sydney later this year. Their conversation meandered over many writerly topics, including Stories of Life, and this gem:

Maz: What is the difference between writers and authors?

Pete: Anyone can write. Most people write. Everyone can write. And everyone says they have a story. The difference between a writer and an author is that authors edit. Oh, that takes a bit of unpacking. But, yeah, anyone can write, but to actually write, and it’s not about getting published, it’s about getting the work better.

As the quality of the storytelling often comes down to the editing. With that in mind, and the submission deadline for Stories of Life being next Wednesday 31 July, it might be worth revisiting Video 3 on Final Editing by Dr Pete Court. All the best to all who are still working on their final submission. We look forward to receiving your stories.

For those interested in the Christian Writers Conference later in September, here’s the flyer.
